Our History
Serving the Generations Since 1882. That’s not just a tagline, at The Bank of Versailles that’s our way of doing business. Our goal is to provide you with personal service from your first savings account, to buying a home, and through your IRA distributions.
Since opening our doors November 22, 1882, we have been locally-owned and locally-operated. The bank was started by five shareholders with $5000. In less than a decade we grew to $30,000 in capital and have continued to grow ever since.
In 1958 the entire Main Facility in Versailles was remodeled. The teller cages to the other side of the building and we added offices. In July of 1970, we opened our Motor Bank. The first Laurie Bank facility opened in 1977 and later moved to our current facility in 1984. We opened Greenview Bank in 1997. On June 1, 2015, we opened our newest facility, The Shawnee Bend Bank.
Today, The Bank of Versailles employs more than 40 people, and is a proud member of the Versailles Area Chamber of Commerce, the Lake West Chamber of Commerce, and the Lake of the Ozarks Convention & Visitors Bureau.
